Teacher Accomplishments

Check out the great things that our teachers are doing…..

Katie Freely (Rm2) is the recipient of an Oppenheimer 2015 Teacher Incentive Grant for $1500 to create an indoor multi-sensory garden that will provide our students with access to create, engage and explore year-round gardening experiences.

Karina Shimkos(Rm9) is a recipient of a “Pets in the Classroom” grant which allowed her to purchase “Apple”, the pet rat of Rudolph.  This grant funded the purchase of the animal and supplies for the purposes of teaching children to bond with and care for their pets responsibly – an experience that can help shape their lives for years to come

Stephanie Hill (Rm8) and Karina Shimkos (Rm9) are recipients of the Kohl Children’s Museum Early Childhood Connections grant. The grant provides opportunities for teachers to learn about and begin to use the Project Approach in their classroom. It also includes a professional development component for teachers, interactive learning experiences for the children both in classroom and at Kohl Children’s Museum, an on-site parent/child activity, a project celebration event and family passes to the museum. Programming content addresses NAEYC, Ill. Learning Standards, and Common Core Standards.
